"Founding Father" Arguments Are Irrelevant

Our founding fathers didn't want women to vote, enslaved Black Americans, and wanted native Americans dead. Out founding fathers did not imagine Kansas, California, Hawaii, or Alaska. They did not have automatic weapons, and loaded their single-shot guns with a ramrod. They did not have the internet and it took 60 days to send a letter to Britain and get a message back. Life expectancy at birth was just 35.

Founding Father arguments are usually embraced as a way of maintaining a power structure to keep out women, people of color, immigrants, and those without vast assets.  Never accept a "founding fathers" framing of any argument.  The proper response is:  Who gives a damn what the Founding Fathers thought?  Maybe the folks who thought ONLY white men with property should vote were full of shit, eh?
