Just wondering - would the owl in the third picture be able to do any real damage to the deer? I've always had (what people tell me is an irrational) fear of large owls, esp the barn owl. Thx - Christine
No. It could leave a slashing cut, but that's about all. An owl will take a skunk (about 3 pounds) or a small cat or possum (6-10 pounds) at the most, but would not be able to go too far with them, I think. Mostly an owl wants mice, rats, and voles.
