I Grew Up Reading Tintin

I grew up reading Tintin in both English and French, so I will definitely see this movie even if the CGI of Tintin's face is a little creepy.
And is there is a terrier in this move?Of course! It's Tintin. The terrier is a star! .

Yes, Herge was hardly a politically correct kind of guy -- perhaps a Nazi sympathizer during the war, and certainly a Catholic accomodationist willing to look the other way.
The two racist books (or at least racist by today's standards) are Tintin in Africa and Tintin in America, both of which I believe I have in the original French. The stories are not too bad, but the drawings are of the "black sambo" variety, and infantilize the subjects. Of course, everyone is caricatured to some degree in these books -- the Chicago mob, the Aztecs, Opera singers, cowboys, the French, detectives, scientists, long shoremen, and even the parrots! The only creature that was dead neutral was Tintin, who was always a smart, earnest and pure boy scout -- what he actually started out as, back when Herge started him as a filler cartoon for a Catholic newsletters or magazine similar to "Boy Life".
