As of this morning, 7,000 civilians — mostly women and children — were dead from Israeli bombs in Gaza, and it will be perhaps twice that number in another week.
It’s like having a loose school shooter on campus and then dropping bombs on the school as if that’s the right solution.
This afternoon Israel’s military confirmed it bombed Gaza’s largest refugee camp — resulting in the IDF mass killing of Palestinian refugees.
Oof.
Yes, Hamas needs to be wiped out. On that there is no dispute.
But retribution on Hamas cannot be made by indiscriminate killing of civilian palestinians. Fuck anyone who thinks otherwise. Ditto for those who confuse the fascist politics of Netanyahu with the sentiments of civilian Israelis who only wish for peace and prosperity for all.
The loss now — beyond human lives — is that any moral high ground Israel had three weeks ago, is now gone.
Everyone in the world was shocked and horrified by the mindless cruelty of the blood-soaked lunatics of Hamas. Israel was perfectly placed to ask for the overseas leaders of Hamas living in Qatar and other satellite countries to be turned over for trial. They were perfectly placed to offer billions of dollars in bounties for Hamas leaders and fighters.
Instead, a beleaguered, politically weak, and corrupt Netanyahu decided to rush in with bombs and tanks.
Netanyahu has no immediate goal for this occupation of Gaza, no plan for an exit, and no plan for what’s next.
In short, madness has begat madness.
And only more madness lies ahead.

I agree Israel has completely lost whatever high ground it may have once had. I was also surprised they didn't petition the UN to go after the Hamas leaders in Qatar. Now that chance is lost and both sides are only going to dig in harder. The Gaza strip has an incredibly young average age of its population, so they are essentially bombing children. Thousands of children in an open air prison, in one of the most densely populated places on earth, so it's akin to shooting fish in a barrel.
