Sassafras All Over the Mountain


The leaves can be dried and used to thicken Gumbo, and the bark and roots make a tea that tastes quite a bit like root beer.

Sassafras is rich in safrole and was banned from sale by the FDA decades ago. It's toxic, carcinogenic, and not recommended. https://www.sciencedirect.com/topics/agricultural-and-biological-sciences/sassafras
