The March of Progress Takes Another Field

This was a hedgerow .... soon it will be landscaping mulch.

The field where I’ve been photographing groundhogs (it’s run over with them) is about to have the top two feet of soil removed in preparation for development. On the upside, the land owner gave me permission to hunt nearby land that he says is loaded with groundhogs.

Up on a high rock. This groundhog is safe for now, but not for long. The ugly march of “progress” is coming.  These are likely the last pictures from this field -- the bulldozers are in sight.

These two young groundhogs are old enough to be on their own, though mom was nearby.

Hope these fellows get out alive, but the odds aren’t great. Equipment all around, and they are staying put.
