I ordered two new game cameras on Wednesday, and they arrived today (Friday).
These cameras were half the price of my first first Moultrie game camera purchased in 2007 ($100 then, and only $50 each now) and have far more mega-pixels (14 now, versus 4 then).
The new cameras are also half the size, better camouflaged, and use far less battery power.
The new cameras use microSD memory chips. Three of these were only $17 — about the same price as one old memory chip, which was at least four times bigger with one eighth the storage.
The new chip reader was $13 and reads all sized chips and attaches to apple iPhone or DOS computer and works with pretty much any operating system.
These cameras use natural light in the day, and infrared at night, and can do both still and short video. My old Moultrie camera had a white flash because it was in my backyard; these will be a bit more low-key.
The manual says the camera can take 50 pics a day for 6 months with 8 AA batteries due to very low power consumption in standby mode.
