Jumping the Tracks at Harpers Ferry

This is a drone photo of today’s freight train derailment in Harper’s Ferry, West Virginia.

Two empty grain cars are in the river, and there’s supposed to be a partial bridge collapse (but it might be just the railing).

This is right where three states and two rivers come together.

The rivers are the Shenandoah and the Potomac, and you can see where the different colors merge in this picture.

The 2,000-mile long Appalachian Trail, which stretches from Georgia to Maine, crosses here, and the 185-mile long C&O Canal is at the end of the bridge. The C&O connects to the Great Allegheny Path trail (150 miles) going to Pittsburgh — a combined 335-mile bike path just up the road.
