Coffee and Provocation

French Chickens Kill French Fox
Not sure if I am proud of the chickens or ashamed for the fox. It took 3,000 chickens, the living descendant of the T-Rex, to kill a small fox.

Dutch Salmon Has Gone to the Source
Dutch Salmon, a conservationist, author, dog man, and lover of the outdoors, and most things in it, has died at age 73. A powerful voice for the protection of the Gila River, he had been suffering from Parkinson's for a number of years.

The American System of Manufacturing
From Wikipedia: "The American system of manufacturing was a set of manufacturing methods that evolved in the 19th century. The two notable features were the extensive use of interchangeable parts and mechanization for production, which resulted in more efficient use of labor compared to hand methods."

When the Road Charges the Car
A stretch of road outside Stockholm transfers energy from two tracks of rail in the road, recharging the batteries of electric cars and trucks that have a movable arm attached to the bottom of a vehicle.

Poor Man's Fillet Mignon
People think how eggs, chicken, and beef are raised determines taste.  Nope.  It's almost always how it is prepared.  True too for coffee.  See this link for how to turn a low-cost crap cut into a terrific one.

Malevolent Beetles Are the Problem
Devils Hole Pupfish are rare and hard to breed because of vicious water diving beetles that prey upon them.

Monosodium Glutamate Is Fine
MSG got a bad rap due to flawed science and racism.

It Has To Be a Fake
When presented with the first Platypus, European scientists assumed an egg-laying, duck-billed, beaver-tailed, otter-footed, venomous mammal had to be an elaborate hoax.

World War I Trench Construction

We don't know what's in the Mueller report as it has has not been released. A couple of points:

1. The purpose of a Special Counsel is to remove the investigation and any conclusions from the political process. By injecting himself into it, Barr has negated the purpose of the Special Counsel.

2. In the past, because of the internal DOJ opinion that the president cannot be indicted, these reports went to Congress to decide what action to be taken. That is still what has to happen; Barr has no authority to take action according to his own DOJ and his own previous opinions on the matter.

3. The report does not say there was no collusion. It says the report "did not establish" that there was collision and coordination. That's a very different thing, as to establish is to determine beyond a reasonable doubt.

4. The report affirmatively says there may have been obstruction.

5. The fact that Mitch McConnell is trying to block release of the report tells you there is something here to hide. What is it? We do not even know how long the report is. My guess is that it's several hundreds pages.

6. Barr does not quote so much as an entire sentence from the report, a clear suggestion he is cherry-picking like clearly. There was, no doubt, a summary of the report by Mueller at the beginning. That was not released.

7. There are ongoing investigations related to Russian interference (Stone, Gates, Flynn, Sater, Nader) and both the NY and VA and DC US attorneys have massive and ongoing investigations informed by the Mueller team and their own work. We have already seen 191 criminal charges, 35 individuals indicted, 5 guilty pleas, and we have four folks sent to jail and several awaiting trial. This thing is far from over.

8. We will know more when the Mueller report in its entirety comes out. And it will.
