Waiting for the Wrist to Heal

I ripped a tendon in my wrist (a serious sprain) sometime in July and I did not take it too seriously, only putting on a brace in mid-August. It is still not in great shape. which is why I have not been digging. Apparently it takes longer for a tendon than a broken bone. Who knew? While I have lacerated myself a fair number of times, I have never had a serious sprain or broken bone before.

Soft tissue injuries are the worst. I let a pain around my elbow go almost a year before deciding that ibuprofen wasn't doing a darn thing. X-rays were normal, unfortunately, and the orthopedic specialist felt same; he said he'd rather fix a broken bone than give me news about a torn muscle that's built up some significant scar tissue over time. It'll never be 100% normal and I'll always be re-tearing it to some degree in my day job, but at least I know how to care for it now and help rehab it myself--especially after THAT medical bill.

Take it easy and get back to the digging work when your body is ready for it!

Take care of, it keep it warm, take biotin for connective tissue nutrition, it will take about a year to heal. I've pulled my plantar tendon on my foot several times and it took a year each time to heal it. I HAVE to wear double maybe triple arch support for that tendon due to my extremely high arches.

I hope you aren’t terribly inconvenienced. Are you a righty or a lefty?

Not sure about humans, but when I trained horses there was a saying: Number of letters in the injured site = number of months to completely heal. Bone = 4 months, Tendon = 6 months, Suspensory, well that's 10 but you might as well say a year.
