Information on working terriers, dogs, natural history, hunting, and the environment, with occasional political commentary as I see fit. This web log is associated with the Terrierman.com web site.
The Colombian exchange also included some negatives: smallpox and a variety of other diseases for which original people's lacked resistance, rabies, fungi that have all-but extinguished the American Chestnut and made life difficult for the elm, rats and goats that decimated fauna and flora on many islands...for starters, it's a long list. Bottom line is that the exchange has been a mixed blessing. Impacts were probably worse on the New World because there was a lot of mixing between Eurasia and Africa before 1492.
