Wildlife Under the Ice and Snow

The videos, above and below, are from nearby Pennsylvania.

Bald eagles are pretty common all over now, and late snows -- even heavy ones -- do not put them off their reproductive mission. Fantastic!

The bird, below, is a red-breasted merganser, a type of fish-eating duck which will dive under the ice to hunt for fish, and which can hold its breath for up to 5 minutes.

It was 11 degrees yesterday morning -- hard to believe the Shad will be running up stream in a month, and that the first yellow flowers will be out too.
