Information on working terriers, dogs, natural history, hunting, and the environment, with occasional political commentary as I see fit. This web log is associated with the Terrierman.com web site.
It was actually the dog I was focused on -- it looks like an engorged tick. But no, there is no picture of health here either way, and the fingernails on the owner do not help -- they only accentuate the problem.
This looks like an occasion for your 'brick to the head' solution. Poor thing looks miserable. I cannot understand breeding anything that looks even remotely like that.
Engorged tick is right. Unfortunately I think most people focus on the dog's lack of hair and dangling tongue. Obese dogs like this are so commonplace that most people probably don't notice.
I've come to negatively judge women who spend countless wasted dollars on manicures when the rest of their lives and health is in shambles. If they have an expensive manicure like the trashy one in this photo. I have already formed a negative opinion of them. The poor dog looks like a miscarriage or the 'pickled punks' of the freak show era of the early 20th century.
Kitty, here's the deal: If you can afford alcohol, cigarettes, the food you eat, the manicures and hairstyling, the makeup, the piercings/tattoos, and whatnot...then you can afford to better yourself and influence whatever other living beings are associated with you (kids, pets, neighbors, etc).
I see the "engorged tick" imagery now...I just couldn't stop thinking that, from the neck down, the dog looks like some kind of hideous infant.

Must we?
Should I be cringing at the nightmare-inducing dog or the bulging double-chin on the owner?
Either way, I'll decline the enlargement. I already had a pretty creepy dream last night.

Chinese crested. Old enough to have no teeth. Grossly overweight.
Yuck.
I'm surprised its ears aren't pierced or some other owner nonsense.
The picture just makes me sad on so many levels.

I think the three words that failed me are: Murder, Suicide and Torture.
Murder and torture are for the dog. Suicide is a right (and also a choice) so I have no comment there.
