Faking Animal Cognition at Harvard


Marc D. Hauser of Harvard, author of Wild Minds: What Animals Really Think, has been nailed for faking at least some of his research.

As a scientist I'll say that the really distressing (and depressing) side of this story is that the bits (and I suspect that they are only bits) of science that were fudged will taint not only the rest of Hauser's body of work, but also the work of those who cited and otherwise relied on it.
