Rule Britannia, The Great Nanny State

Fark reports that:

"The nation that once ruled over half of the world and which stood alone against the Nazis now requires proof of age before it will let you buy a pizza cutter."

Don't believe it? I didn't either. So here's the headline and the link:

Woman, 28, told to prove age to buy pizza-cutter

Perhaps they thought it would be used to dock a terrier's tail?

How sad to see a country that thought nothing of putting the heel of imperialism on the necks of most the world fall to keeping pizza cutters out of the hands of their youths.

Seriously, who's going to bayonette the tribal hordes the next time the natives get rowdy in the Malvinas ...er .. Falklands?

But... pizza is scary stuff! Considering the fat, cholesterol, nitrates and empty carbs in just one slice - I am surprised that it doesn't already fall within the auspices of the ATF!

You might be interested in Nanny Knows Best if you can get past the ads and repeating links at the bottom of each post. Did you know that teaspoons are dangerous too?!

Or you could just do a Fark site search for "nanny state." Surprisingly, not all the results are from Great Britain, but the sheer majority of them, sadly, are. It's almost depressing. No wonder America revolted :P
