Music You Should Have In Your Truck

Alison Krauss and Jerry Douglas do James Taylor. If it gets better than this, I haven't seen it. Made in America by Americans. Yes, we do still make something. And it is something good.

John Prine and Iris DeMent -- as twisted a pair as you will ever find at the phone company. And don't Iris look just a little mortified at the lyrics? John will do that. God Bless America, land that I love. Heart of a nun, libido of a stallion, broad-shouldered, dirt-loving, skinned knee nation that she is.
.

Gillian Welch & David Rawlings do Red Clay Halo. Make sure they play this one at my funeral.

Alison Krauss' version of "Carolina in My Mind" is so beautiful it made my hair stand up. Thanks for pointing it out.

This may skew your point a bit(grin), but Allison Krause is also working with Robert Plant on an album. Yes, *that* Robert Plant.

The Alison Krauss / Robert Plant CD is fabulous, as I predicted when I blogged abou it back in August (http://terriermandotcom.blogspot.com/search/label/music )

They do a couple of single pieces and a couple of duets, and after 2 weeks of listening to nothing else, I proclaim it a great album. Great! Slamming.

And, for the record, the greatest bluegrass musicians ever alive are alive today -- folks like Jerry Douglas, Iris Dement, Doc Watson, Ricky Skaggs and his great band Kentucky Thunder, Alison Kraus, Ralph Stanley, Emmylou Harris, Chris Thile, Marty Stewart, Gillian Welch, Earl Scruggs, Del McCoury, David Rawlings, The Old Crow Medicine Show, Leo Kotke. etc.

OK, enough out of me. See this for Alison and Robert doing the Memphis sound and the Everly Brothers >> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g5KF4dKq-6I

Full props to T. Bone Burnett too -- he knows how to cook it up, eh?
