Let’s GO!

“You don’t win elections to bank political capital,” Mr. Walz wrote last year about his approach to governing. “You win elections to burn political capital and improve lives.”

Tim Walz got his values the old-fashioned way
; he grew up poor in rural Nebraska.

Tim Walz and his brother were saved from poverty after their father died, thanks to Social Security Survivor Benefits.

Tim Walz enlisted in the Army National Guard at age 17 and served for 24 years. He rose to serve as Command Sergeant Major in heavy artillery and deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

He went to college and got a BS at Chadron State and a Master’s Degree at Minnesota State in Mankato.

After college, Tim Walz taught on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation and in China. He worked as a geography teacher and coach at Mankato West High school, and not only coached his team to its first state football title, but was the high school’s first Faculty Advisor for their LGBTQ Gay-Straight Alliance.

Married for 30 years to a fellow teacher, he has two children conceived via IVF, a girl and a boy, now age 23 and 18.

Walz defeated a rural Republican member of Congress, and served in Congress for 12 years, where he was the Democratic leader on the Veterans Committee.

Walz is a hunter, a former NRA member, and owns a young retriever.

Tim Walz is in his second term as the successful and beloved Governor of Minnesota. He is a kind, empathetic and sensible, and he cannot be bullied.

When running for governor, Walz campaigned on a “One Minnesota” platform that emphasized union organizing, a $15-per-hour minimum wage, and assistance for school children and college students. As governor he signed bills enshrining reproductive rights in the wake of Roe v. Wade being overturned (the Minnesota state legislature was the first to codify abortion protections after the landmark case was reversed), protected gender-affirming care, and legalized recreational use of marijuana. He also approved funding for free school meals for children, free tuition at public colleges for students in families earning under $80,000 a year, a paid family and medical leave program and health insurance coverage

Tim Walz is famous for his humor, his ability to lift others up, and his #BigDadEnergy. He is Minnesota nice to the bone: he likes food on a stick, tupperware, First Nations, and helping other people with a smile.

He is as American as it gets.
