NOT ROCKET SCIENCE, but it’s still nice when a plan comes together.
The dogs ride in the panniers in back. The right front pannier holds warmth, root saw, food, water, leashes, etc. The top bag holds camera and phone, etc.
The shovel is held to the right front pannier rack with two swaged cables threaded through holes drilled in the shoulders of the forged Ames Pony D-handle shovel. Two clips on each side work to attach the shovel cables to the pannier rack. The green pool noodle is cut to fit over shovel, shovel handle, and cables to prevent rattling. The shovel head weight holds the shovel handle upright, with minimal assistance from the bungee cord that fixes the top bag closed.
