Paddle Down And Peddle Up

This year has been mostly lost due to family illness and death, so I’ve had very little time out with the dogs on digs, bike, or boat. Birding too has suffered.

Things are  just now getting clear, but I find my routine is off and my checklist rusty. How rusty? Notice the bike paniers on the back of the kayak — I forgot to leave them with the bike, so had to lash them to the back of the boat in order to get the dogs back up river afterwards. It worked out, but I’m clearly a bit at sixes and sevens

On the upside, it was a good few hours out. I saw 3 blue herons, 6 cormorants, an immature bald eagle, a merlin, a kingfisher, and two deer.
