Over Half a Ton of Dead Fish

The clean up crew showed up — both Turkey and Black vultures.

I counted 109 dead carp, each 10-25+ pounds, dead from eutrophication (lack of oxygen) after they entered a short section of canal at river flood. As water dropped, and duckweed spread, their fate was sealed.

Vultures with six-foot wingspans are quite noticeable in riparian forest.
