Taxidermied Rare, Endangered, and Extinct
A warehouse in Valencia, Spain, was found to have over 1,000 taxidermied animals representing over 400 protected species, including some that had been declared extinct in the wild, such as the scimitar oryx, and others that were critically endangered, such as Bengal tigers, lions, leopards, cheetahs, and lynx, rhinos, polar bears, and elephants. It's one of the greatest hauls of taxidermy animals ever found and has launched a smuggling investigation.
The world's largest wildlife crossing is to to be built over a 10-lane highway near Los Angeles, California. The crossing will be 210 feet long and 165 feet wide.

So many Americans died in the second year of the Covid pandemic that the overall U.S. life expectancy fell to 76.6 years in 2021 — the lowest in at least 25 years, and the second year in a row it's dropped. Though the population of the US still grew, it grew at a slower rate in 2021 than in any other year since the founding of the nation, based on historical decennial censuses and annual population estimates. 2021 is the first time since 1937 that the U.S. population grew by fewer than one million people.
