Parachuting Messenger Dog of 1921

May 18, 1921: Bing the Fox Terrier makes a 1,500-foot parachute jump in a test of dogs’ ability to act as messengers in wartime. The Army pooch then successfully sheds his harness, evades a dog trained to intercept him and delivers his dispatch at Chanute Field, Illinois.

For background on the use of dogs in war time, see The British War Dogs Training School.
