Covid In the Woods
Scientists have discovered shockingly high rates of COVID infections among the 25 million white-tailed deer in the U.S., with 60 percent of sampled deer infected. The deer show no evidence of infection; the virus seems not to affect them.

Fastest Animal In the World?
Compared to what? Methanocaldococcus villosu, a type of Archaea, only one micrometer in size, can swim half a millimeter in one second. That may not seem like much, but while a a cheetah can run at nearly 70 mph, or 20 body lengths per second, a M. villosus cell sized up to cheetah scale, would swim approximately 1,875 miles per hour.

The Land Stolen From Native Americans 
Indigenous people in the US “have lost nearly 99 percent of the land they historically occupied”.  Vast tracts of this land were stolen after treaties with the US Government were violated. Over 40 percent of tribes from the historical period have no federally- or state-recognized present-day tribal land. Of the tribes that still have a land base, their present-day lands are an average of 2.6% the size of their estimated historical area.
