Tom Swift Invented the TASER

I found this book (top) cruising a local antique place; it was published in 1956.

Tom Swift was the person who created the TASER, which stood for “Tom Swift’s Electric Rifle”. That book came out in 1911!

 
In the real world, the first Taser-branded energy weapon was introduced in 1993.
