National Radio Quiet Zone

The wife and I are in West Virginia biking the Greenbrier River bike trail. We are smack in the middle of the “National Radio Quiet Zone, which is 13,000 square miles free of most radio and TV transmissions.  We only have wifi at the cafe, and no cell phone service at all. Radio in the car doesn’t work.

The reason for a National Radio Quiet Zone?  Trust me, it’s not radio astronomy…. think NSA.

Pocahontas County, West Virginia has a population of under 9,500. Steep mountains, and lots and lots of forest and clear water. Ideal bear habitat. Truly spectacular beauty.
