Surveying the Area

I visited a local wildlife sanctuary today.

Lots of bird houses with serious anti-predator attachments — netting to trap snakes, deep plastic entries to thwart raccoons and hawks, cans and cones on the vertical metal stands to discourage all. Purple Martin poles had anti-hawk attachments as well.

Two magnificently red foxes, still in winter coats, rose out of a creek bed and ran up hill. I pinged the location and will look for a den another day. No hunting here, but maybe a good location for a game camera.

Came across a herd of at least 40 deer too. The fields here are large, and deer beds were everywhere. I will be back with the camera. Hopefully the next time I won’t get lost. Must remember to ping the location of the car!
