Learning About Milk Cows in Switzerland

As a kid, I spent a few summers in Switzerland escaping the heat of North Africa.

It was there, in a high alpine meadow, that I first saw milk cows (there were not many cows in the Arab world).

This fellow had a stool like this strapped to his ass (as shown), and he chased the cows with a short cord lariat, grabbing them by the tail.

When the cows turned their heads, he would slip a noose over a horn and tie it to the tail. Craziest thing I ever saw.

And how were these two wires alone keeping these cows in the field?

It was at that exact moment that I discovered electric fences....

I hope not by peeing on them, that's how my father found out about this innovation at the time....
