The ferry at White’s Ford on the Potomac is named after Confederate General Jubal Early, who extorted Frederick, Maryland out of $200,000 (in 1864, when that was real money) in order to prevent him from burning the town to the ground.
The perversion is that the car carrier at White’s Ferry, just 20 miles from Frederick, is named the Jubal Early.
It’s like naming a road in Tel Aviv after Edwin Rommel.
