Out Foxed

Sheffield Daily Telegraph - February 22, 1910
THE MEYNELL:  Fox Outwits Terrier and Hounds.

An amusing incident occurred during the meet of the Meynell Hounds, at Byrkley Lodge, Burton-on-Trent. A fine dog fox was chased into the Park, but escaped into the trunk of a hollow tree. Scrambling on to branch, for fully a quarter of an hour he defied the besieging pack. Then a terrier was sent to dislodge him. Even then Reynard proved too good for the pack, for quietly sprang over their heads, and ran to earth before hounds could touch him.
