Training the Marmots

I spied this groundhog out and about in a field near the house.

We had a fun encounter as I stalked in, put a little pressure on it, took the pressure off, let it settle, and came closer.

I got within 9 feet before I decided we had played enough and I backed all the way out. We’ll train again another day!

Groundhogs lose about a third of their weight over the winter, so the fact that this fellow looks pretty prosperous on exit after three months underground means he went in quite stuffed.
