A Short Story in One Picture

A friend sent me this story in one picture. This was a deer killed by coyote — seen as it happened.

Coyote will kill fawns in the early Spring, but generally eat farther down the food chain (mice, rabbits, possum, roadkill, berries, trash).  A fawn is a big kill.

I post this as a reminder that nothing in forest or field dies on a morphine drip with quiet classical music in the background. Avoiding death is not an option, and few deaths are as quick or humane as that offered by a skilled hunter.

Wildlife is generally well managed in the US, which is why this country is groaning with deer, fox, beaver, coyote, beaver, ducks, geese, hawks, wild turkey, and herons.

A key component of wildlife conservation are public lands, which range from national forests and grasslands to wildlife refuges, national parks, state parks and forests, and Pittman- Robertson land.

This land is your land. Always protect it and always defend it as your own.

Deer was attacked by coyotes -- seen by house owner, as noted.
