Massive Kettles of Vultures


Two enormous kettles of black vultures working the air near Point of Rocks, Maryland

I don’t think these birds were attracted by death, but by uplift from the nearby ridge.

When I lived in Florida I saw far more vultures than I thought the volume of carrion could possibly support. Now in NZ where there are no vultures and the native carrion eaters are extinct. Roadkill still disappears. That part of the food chain is a mystery to me
