The screaming was a third cub getting killed and eaten. One of the things you will see with animals in this kind of situation is that a mother, vixen, sow, etc. will actually push a youngster out front to be eaten. It horrible from out point of view, but if the mother is killed, all the cubs die. As in this instance, one is taken, and the rest get away.
