The Newest UK Breed is American

The latest breed to be pulled into the closed gene pool of the British Kennel Club is the Black and Tan Coonhound.

Now, here's the thing: There are no raccoons in the UK outside of a few refugees stuck in zoos.

And so what will the work of this dog be?

Why the same as for all the other 220 breeds in the Kennel Club: propping up the egos of people who desperately need a ribbon.

The Black and Tan Coonhound is the eleventh new breed to be recognized by the Kennel Club in the last 8 years, joining the French Barbet, Turkish Kangal, Portuguese Pointer, Picardy Sheepdog, White Swiss Shepherd Dog, Russian Toy, Braque d’Auvergne, Griffon Fauve de Bretagne, Hungarian Pumi, and the Jack Russell.

The Jack Russell?

The Jack Russell is a NEW breed?

Why yes. According the Kennel Club, the Jack Russell is a breed developed in.... Australia, a country the Reverend John Russell never so much as visited, and it was developed sometime after 1970.

Right.

Pure bullshit then
. Unalloyed and uncut.

Still steaming fresh and straight from the puppy peddlers and fantasists.

As for the American Coonhound, these dogs are NOT great pets for city and small town folks no matter what the puppy peddlers in the UK will tell you. As one American rescue puts it:

Coonhounds were bred to announce the finding of game in a loud, musical voice ranging from a soft "woo woo woo" to a loud, blaring operatic aria. Hound song can be one of the most beautiful sounds you’ll ever enjoy in life, but it can lead to neighborhood discord unless you’re prepared to teach your hound when and where its appropriate to sing.

Hope the British Kennel Club never attempts to register Blackmouth Curs, Redbone or Bluetick Hounds, or the other American breeds that have been bred for a purpose and are still fulfilling that purpose.

Coon hounds could, on the other hand be trained to go for feral, invasive, cats instead of 'coon....i know, bash me on the head for suggesting that. i do like cats, but there are too many ferals and they are decimating bird populations..
