Pollution So Bad It Created the Clean Air Act



A lady with pearls on her neck and a scarf around her nose and mouth during the Great Smog in London, 1952, which ended up killing 12,000 people during its 5-day long stay. 

The London Great Smog event led to the Clean Air Act of 1956 which, in turn, led to the U.K. Clean Air Act of 1968.

The U.S. Clean Air Act first came into effect in 1963.
