A seven-week-old border collie puppy, named Ciara. She had never even seen a sheep before this moment, but according to her human, Daire Byrne: "her instincts as a fifth-generation border collie kicked in when she clapped eyes on them." But see the comment from Donald McCaig. He is, of course, absolutely right.

Dear Patrick,
Sorry but this is stupid.
Too young to be trained. Old enough to get hurt and if it did get hurt by those sheep its wonderful instincts might well change to "never gonna get near those wooly creatures again."

You are, of course, absolutely right. I've had my 200-pound ass knocked over by sheep, and I well-know that a terrier that is entered too soon will jibe, and will probably never work underground again. Same for sheep if I had thought about it. The code may explode, but it's a likely disaster in the making. I have added a note to the the original post to see your comment.
Donald, did you notice the pup is own by the son of Pat Byrne (who has sold pups for big money at Skipton)?
One of my first cynical thoughts (because the video was picked up by U.K. News) was the marketing has already started on this pup.
