The Crup Terrier

Pictured above is one of the last pure Crup Terriers.

This breed was originally created by Thornton Spillett Harkaway who crossed a small terrier acquired from Dr. Thomas Walker (a distant relative) with a Genessee Valley Beaver Dog kept by a Seneca shaman who wandered south into Virginia after his own tribe was devastated by disease.

Thornton Harkaway, of course, later became President of the Magical Congress of the United States in 1760, and his small pack of terriers became rather famous around Williamsburg, Virginia, where they were used to hunt bear and some of the last wolves and lions in this state.

To be clear, Moxie is a pure Crup Terrier, and I am certified trainer of Crup Terriers, licensed by the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures. This wee bitch had her tail docked at 6 weeks with a Severing Charm, as the law requires.

It can often be seen around the castle grounds with a Bactrian Terrier in tow.
