Dogs Used to Sell Gin and Whiskey

A bit of oddness for "thrown back Thursday."
Dogs are often used to sell whiskey, gin, and other kinds of alcohol.

I suppose a great deal of it may be due to a historical accident; the simple "Black and White" label of Buchanan's blended whiskey resulted in James Buchanan adopting black and white terrier mascots for branding purposes in the 1890s, at the start of the Kennel Club terrier craze that lasted for another 40 years.
