Information on working terriers, dogs, natural history, hunting, and the environment, with occasional political commentary as I see fit. This web log is associated with the Terrierman.com web site.
It doesn't even need to be life or death. I used to conduct educational walks through the bush - wander along for a bit, find something interesting, stop and talk to the group about it, repeat. Trouble was, there was always someone lagging behind. Initially I used to wait for them to catch up before I began my spiel, while the rest of the group waited. The net result was that the sluggards got slower and the waits got longer. After a while I adopted a different approach - I started talking when the second slowest person caught up. Result; shorter and shorter waits as the sluggards put on a bit of pace so as not to miss out.
