I've always heard that Hellen Keller's dog was a pitbull type dog, but this pup looks more like a boxer mix or even a Boston terrier mix. The muzzle seems to turn up more like a Boxer/Boston terrier than a pitbull and also it's lower jaw is jutting out more than a pitbull's lower jaw does. For does anyone know for sure?

Here's the newspaper article from when Hellen Keller was given the dog from students at Radcliffe. Previously, as the article notes, she had a spaniel. How she came by the dog, as the article notes, is an interesting story in itself.
