Liars for Hire in Opposition

Despite the fact that it's from Cracked magazine, this is a pretty good review of some of the "liars for hire" you see working the levers of public opinion.   

The two below are likely to be of particular interest to readers of this blog.

• Center for Consumer Freedom:
  "They're basically paid shills for the restaurant industry" and receive most of their funding from the food and gaming industry, including Coca-Cola, Wendy's, Outback Steakhouse and Monsanto.

• Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine:
  This outfit seems to think every problem in the world has a vegan solution. As the article notes, "the PCRM has strong and mysterious ties to PETA, the animal rights group that other animal rights groups avoid at parties."  More than 95 percent of its members are not physicians, and the 'physician' who runs the group is actually a nonpracticing psychiatrist.
