One of the animal rights lunatics that was harassing a legal fox hunt in the U.K. with a gyrocopter, crashed his air vehicle, killing and nearly decapitated hunt supporter Trevor Morse (pictured at right with hounds).
The man, Bryan Griffiths, age 54, has been formally charged with murder. Griffiths is a rabid anti-hunt campaigner and works as a heating technician in Bedworth in Warwickshire.
I do not think Mr. Griffiths will be able to get off from this charge; the incident was filmed on a video camera by an eyewitness.
A second man has been released on bail while further inquiries are carried out. Murder charges may yet be filed against this second individual.

Wrong-headed, stupid and ultimately tragic. We've said it all before: Fox hunts rarely catch anything. Equine hunt clubs chase fox and work to be certain fox have habitat and that humans maintain open space...for everyone to enjoy. I'm not a blood-sport participant, but I expect I could fox hunt a long time before I saw anything that might upset me. Having said that, a gyrocopter decapitating a person would upset me every day of the week. There is NOTHING more dangerous than a zealot of any stripe.

Why is there such resentment towards sound wildlife management?
Well, there's this theory:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Post-materialism
Basically, once you have as safe and secure society and you have a good income, you start worrying about all sorts of things that have nothing to do with those things.
And if you live in a city your whole life, nature is what you see on TV.
And people desperately want meaning in their lives, so they do stupid and dangerous things to stop things that they perceive as morally incorrect.
The trick we have to pull is that we must make this more of a discussion about animal welfare, human needs and culture, and ecology. Those things must be balanced.
