Happy Fourth of July!
Remember to crate your dogs or bring them inside at dusk!
Dogs tend to leap fences and bolt gates due to extreme anxiety caused by July 4th fireworks. A dog inside is a dog secure.
.
If I'm out after fireworks start, I leash the dogs to walk the 20 feet from car door to front door. The risk is too great. Fireworks week (they're legal for about a week here) is Hell Week for me and mine. Looks like it'll be pretty cool today, so we may survive having the windows shut.
Note to those who turn up radio/TV as white noise: make sure you tune to a station that won't be broadcasting fireworks. A friend of mine inadvertently left his dog with the TV set to a fireworks-broadcasting station. The results weren't pretty. Classical radio can even be dangerous -- the 1812 Overture is not pet-friendly!
