I too despise overly-groomed dogs, but I have to admit, the results of photos like these (and many others that have made the rounds in the past) are quite stunning.
I figure as long as they are allowed to go out in public looking like dogs, and not Ninja turtles, or pandas or Clydesdales, all is not lost. A little creativity never hurt anyone, and hair can be shaved off to grow back.
