Feed Me Like a Hyena

Back in 2005 I wrote a piece on this blog entitle Feed Me Like a Wolf in which I noted that:

"The preferred diet of the wolf is not cooked backstrap from the pride of the herd, but raw flesh ripped from the diseased rectum of a downer cow."

Now, the BBC has provided a nice video showing a Hyena sticking its head up the ass of an elephant carcass and heartily chowing down (see below).




So how fast does it take for scavengers to reduce an elephant to nothing?

About a week as the time-lapse video, below, makes clear.
