Time to Cut the Head Off the Snake

During the Vietnam era, the US military would engage in “protective reaction strikes,” the official term for an airstrike initiated by US aircraft in response to threats and foreseeable action by enemy forces, aka Vietnamese nationalists opposed to colonial rule.

Sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander.

With Donald Trump engaged in routine murder on the high seas, kidnapping and human trafficking at home, and armed invasion of other countries for bad-faith reasons, the rest of the world needs to dial in its sights and prepare for what is clearly ahead.

So far, Trump had  gotten away with it all, and he is not going to stop unless he feels the hammer blow of deterrence.

With daily threats now being directed at Columbia, Greenland, Canada, Venezuela, Nigeria, Cuba, and Mexico, a “protective reaction strike” on Trump himself can easily be justified by at least a half dozen countries.

And in an era of “nonpoint” source warfare, thanks to low-cost drones armed with powerful explosives,

Trump and the United States may soon discover neither the White House nor Trump’s Mar-a-Lago country club are defendable spaces.

Waiting is not an option. If we have learned anything from Trump himself, it’s that it’s best to strike hard and early, before defensive forces and contingency plans are in place.

To be clear, if Trump is not stopped NOW, it will be impossible later on, whether at home or abroad.

Wait?

For who?  The US military cannot be trusted to hold the line, and neither can Congress or the American courts.

Every American guardrail has failed, not just once, but dozens of times.

The courts?  The US Supreme Court has said Trump cannot be prosecuted for anything — not even murder of a political opponent.

Congress?  They have abdicated all responsibility. The Constitutional Republicans are cloud-hidden, whereabouts unknown, while the Democrats have been reduced to issuing tweets and “strongly worded” press releases.

Pathetic.

The military? They have not batted an eye. The US military has murdered hundreds of people in the Caribbean without trial and without any of the murdered making threat to anyone.

Our armed forces — every branch, and from top to bottom — have been actively complicit in occupying our cities and invading other countries, without any sort of Congressional approval or oversight.

This is fascist dictatorship at its most base level, and we are still early in the arc of destruction to come.

Right now, $100 billion has been earmarked, not for schools or hospitals, but for armed thugs answerable only to Trump, and for a system of detention facilities to be filled by those self-same thugs.

Trump's "One Big Beautiful Bill,” signed in July of last year, allocates $45 billion in new funding for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention facilities.

You don’t build $45 billion worth of detention facilities to deport a few thousand criminal aliens, or even 100,000 non-criminal illegal aliens.

You build $45 billion in detention camps when you intend to round up hundreds of thousands of dissenting citizens.

Trust me; this is coming — along with more invasions of other countries, and more “disappearing” of people rendered to dark sites in impoverished Third World countries far from lawyers, and conveniently adjacent to torture facilities and cemeteries.

This is a well-traveled path. We have seen it before, from Germany to South Africa, from occupied Palestine to Iraq, from North Korea to Guatemala, from Chile to Serbia.

Something wicked this way walks, and we can no longer say we do not see it coming.

It’s time to cut the head off the snake. One way we know it’s time, is that by simply talking about what’s going on right now, folks are beginning to worry about their personal safety.

Intimidation into silence is the quiet distress signal of a burning democracy. If we can be intimidated into silence now, then what comes next is going to be well and truly terrifying.

I am telling you to Open Your Eyes.  Wake up now, or forever live in the nightmare to come.
