Looks like you thoroughly enjoyed your stay in Colorado! Did you make it over the pass to Maroon Bells?? THE most incredible place in the entire state IMHO. If not - put it on your route for next time! I am lucky to live near a large herd of elk - and can often find them 'right next to the road' - generally in fall - just outside Divide, CO.
