Bottom line:
▪️ They did not find widespread or dangerous problems in the dog food tested.
▪️ Ads and ingredients lists on the packaging itself alone are not reliable ways to compare options.
▪️ CR’s scientists looked for contaminants that have led to dog food recalls within the past five years, including several aflatoxins and salmonella and listeria bacteria.
▪️CR did not detect salmonella in any of the 174 samples (three of each product) tested. They detected aflatoxins in only one dog food, and at an average aflatoxin concentration of 1.8 parts per billion (ppb) across the three samples, well under the 20 ppb "action level” of the FDA.
▪️CR did detect listeria in four out of the 174 samples, all in “Raw” food.
▪️ The vast majority of dog owners give their dogs too many treats, and too high-calorie treats. To read the whole thing >> click here.
