Peregrine Falcon fledglings this morning. There were four chicks, but one of them died overnight, and the male carried him out of the nest. The other three chicks left the nest yesterday or this morning. Mom is occasionally bringing food. Did not see the male.
The Peregrine nest was actually built by Ravens and was occupied by them four or five years ago. The falcons now occupying this nest are likely last years fledglings from the cliffs above Harpers Ferry, about 10 miles up river, which were the first Peregrine Falcon chicks hatched from that location since the 1950s.
