A Tapestry of Time

This was a free book parked in the corner of a coffee place I sometimes frequent.

I instantly thought of my mother, who made massive time lines connecting religion, invasions, plagues, intellectual developments, art, political movements, and inventions. An insatiable student who took courses in everything for the last 40+ years of her life, she saw it all as a complex tapestry equal in beauty and wonder to the 100-year old Persian rugs that adorned her floors and walls.

This book is still in a corner of that coffee shop (and former church) in Brunswick, Maryland, but before I left I ordered my own hard cover version from ABEBOOKS.com (Advanced Book Exchange) for less than $5, postage included.

What a deal. I wish I could have ordered two for my mom and dad. Instead, I’m passing on a tip. A word to the wise is sufficient.
